“Bombay is where our friends and daily rhythm are, but Goa is, and will always be, our home base,” shares jewellery designer Shweana Poy Raiturcar, who married industrialist Vikram Salgaocar in a ceremony that spanned across the two cities earlier this month. They met in what Raiturcar calls “the most unassuming way.” Two Goans crossed paths in Mumbai, independent of any parental intervention, despite their families knowing each other. At the time, Raiturcar was working in the city and Salgaocar was based in Los Angeles, visiting India for a wedding. “We knew we liked each other, but we didn’t think it would go anywhere,” she admits. Then, Salgaocar reached out with a message she still has saved: “Hi, I’ve moved back for good.” "All I thought was, ‘I’m not letting this guy go’,” Raiturcar shares.

“People say relationships are all fireworks,” she reflects. “But ours has been more of a steady, unwavering calm.” After three and a half years of dating, Salgaocar proposed on one of the rainiest days in August. A yacht ride that seemed ludicrous in the weather turned beautiful when, for ten unexpected minutes, the sun broke through. “There was no spectacle and no audience, just two people with stillness around us,” she says.

In Goa, 'An Evening in Vrindavan' unfolded at Jeevottam House, the bride's home. A live sitar recital by Swayam Siddha set a devotional tone. The décor centred around an embroidered Tree of Life, created by designer Monica Shah, symbolising “the merging of two lineages and families.” Raiturcar wore a custom-made nine-yard sari in mashru satin silk, woven by Banarasi Baithak. The sari was hand-embroidered with zardozi, threadwork and kasab by JADE by Monica and Karishma and her blouse showcased rare moti bharit beadwork.

For the wedding in Mumbai, the Mandap Muhurat took place at Seawind. Raiturcar opted for a rich red patola by Label Anushree, paired with polki jewellery gifted by her mother-in-law. For the cocktail evening at the Trident, she wore a custom Manish Malhotra corset and swirl skirt, layered with her mother’s heirloom necklaces. Salgaocar wore Versace.

The Shubh Vivah was held at Jio World Convention Centre. For the ceremony, Raiturcar wore a custom JADE by Monica and Karishma lehenga constructed entirely from kasab threadwork, without a fabric base. The surface was crafted using the metal thread alone. Her choli used macramé techniques in bridal gold, and their names were etched into the tassels. Her chooda was composed of individual bangles gifted by women across both families—her great-grandmother, her nani, her mother-in-law and Salgaocar’s nani—while her mother’s wedding baajubandh completed the look. Salgaocar wore a custom Manish Malhotra sherwani with heirloom jewellery.

The celebrations for the wedding in Mumbai concluded with 'Love in Bloom' at Antilia, hosted by Nita and Mukesh Ambani. Raiturcar chose a sculptural Solace London gown, while Salgaocar wore a velvet Giorgio Armani suit. It was a refined finale to a wedding that honoured lineage, craft and a love built on certainty.
